Permaculture is an ecological design system for sustainability in all aspects of human endeavor. It teaches us how to design natural homes and abundant food production systems, regenerate degraded landscapes and ecosystems, develop ethical economies and communities, and much more. As an ecological design system, permaculture focuses on the interconnections between things more than individual parts.

Permaculture in India is still a very new concept. At AyurYoga Eco-Ashram, we are trying to implement 12 principles of Permaculture in designing the 18 acres campus. Also we would like to invite expert Permaculture trainers to offer courses/training in our campus for both International students and locals.

Sacred Forest

At AyurYoga Ashram, we are creating a Sacred Forest, consisting of trees that are considered sacred in Yoga and Ayurveda. The forest includes a very special pattern of planting the trees based on 27 Moons Signs and 12 Zodiac Signs, as described in Vriksha Ayurveda (Ayurveda for Trees).

These are the trees with medicinal properties to purify the air and to heal the people dwelling under them. We hope the students and guests who come to our ashram can meditate, do yoga and get healed in this forest of herbal trees. These are the trees for Yogis to sit under for their meditation and for artists to contemplate.

As of now we planted about 1000 trees and hoping to plant at least 10,000 trees eventually. We invite Ayurveda and Ecology experts to give their valuable suggestion.

Goshala

We are also in the process of starting a Goshala for Cows, which are organic, grass-fed and native cows. We hope to use the milk for our own in-house use and also urine/waste compost as an organic fertilizer for our Organic Farm.
